Austin Convention Center Named Distinctive Achievement, Smart Stars Award Winners

AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin Convention Center was named the winner of the 2022 Distinctive Achievement Award by Association Conventions & Facilities Magazine, and a winner of the 2022 Smart Stars Award issued by Smart Meetings in the Best Convention Center category.

__2022 DISTINCTIVE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: __This honor is for serving the Association Conventions & Facilities Magazine members’ needs and is the first time that the Austin Convention Center has earned the Distinctive Achievement Award. The award was voted on by subscribers and users of the publication, published both in print and online for meeting planners and other members of meetings and conventions associations. The Austin Convention Center will be recognized in the September issue of the publication.

2022 SMART STARS AWARD: The Austin Convention Center was named a 2022 Smart Stars Award winner in the Best Convention Center Category. This is the sixth time the Austin Convention Center has earned this award issued by Smart Meetings. The monthly publication’s readers and community event producers nominate and vote for this annual planner’s choice award program.

The Austin Convention Center also earned the Facilities & Destinations Safe Site designation for venues that go the extra mile to ensure that visiting groups are protected by using high levels of sanitation practices and technology.

At the end of 2021, the Austin Convention Center was honored with the ConventionSouth 2021 Reader’s Choice Award. This is the twelfth time, since the creation of the award in 2001, that the Austin Convention Center has received the award that recognizes the top meeting sites and destinations in the South.

ABOUT THE AUSTIN CONVENTION CENTER: The Austin Convention Center is a LEED® Gold-certified and GBAC STAR™-accredited facility. Located in the heart of downtown, the Austin Convention Center Department operates the Austin Convention Center and Palmer Events Center. The Austin Convention Center Department is comprised of 301 full-time staff positions and is an enterprise department for the City of Austin. As an enterprise department, ACCD is not funded by property taxes, sales taxes, or transfers from the electric and water utilities. Over 10 million people have attended 6,000+ events, including over 900 conventions, at the convention center since it opened in 1992.
