A new Austin Convention Center is on the way! The new, larger Austin Convention Center will significantly increase the rentable square footage of the existing facility, growing from 365,000 square feet to 620,000 square feet of rentable space. The $1.6 billion project, known as UnconventionalATX, will be funded through Hotel Occupancy Tax and Convention Center revenues.
The Austin Convention Center is currently closed for construction related to the facility’s expansion and redevelopment, scheduled to be completed in 2029. Our sister facility, the Palmer Events Center, located at 900 Barton Springs Road, remains available for booking.

CLOSURE INFORMATION
The Austin Convention Center is currently closed for construction related to the facility’s expansion and redevelopment, scheduled to be completed in 2029. Our sister facility, the Palmer Events Center, located at 900 Barton Springs Road, remains available for booking.

During closure, the Austin Convention Center Department’s parking garages, located at 201 East 2nd Street and 601 East 5th Street, will continue to operate.

Easy to access the Austin Convention Center at its central downtown location from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, I-35, or Loop 1 by car or public transportation.
The Austin Convention Center is located at 500 E. Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701, circled by 14,000 hotel rooms within a one-mile radius.
