
Austin Convention Center September Calendar Features
Two New Conventions, Conferences, Rollergirl Match
The Palmer Events Center’s calendar includes four consumer shows this month.
September, 2008. Austin, Texas. - Two new conventions, two conferences and a Rollergirl match are expected to bring over 12,000 to the Austin Convention Center in September. The month ends with another convention moving into the facility for its show dates in October.
September conventions at the Austin Convention Center include two groups new to Austin and the Austin Convention Center. Out and Equal Workplace Advocates’ Out & Equal Summit (www.out&equal.org), Sept. 11-13, is a convention on workplace equality that will attract about 2,400 professionals from around the U.S. and several foreign countries. The National Association of Broadcasters’ 2008 The NAB Radio Show (www.nab.org), Sept. 17-19, is expected to bring 3,000 national and international attendees to the city. At the end of the month, Armstrong McCall will begin moving into the facility for their Annual Hair, Skin, and Nail Show which brings an estimated 15,000 to the facility.
Conferences in September at the Center include United Business Media’s 2008 Austin Game Developers Conference (www.ubmetechnology.com), Sept. 15-18; State Bar of Texas Law Seminar, Sept. 18-19; and Greenlights for NonProfit Success’ Crossroads Conference 2008 (www.greenlights.org), Sept. 25. A TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls match (www.txrd.com) is scheduled Sept. 6.
The Palmer Events Center will also experience a busy September with an estimated 10,000 expected to attend four consumer shows and a conference. The consumer shows scheduled at the PEC include: September City-Wide Garage Sale (www.cwgs.com), Sept. 6-7; le Garage Sale Boutique Sale (www.legaragesale.net), Sept. 6-7; 2008 Bridal Extravaganza (www.austinweddings.com), Sept. 14; and 2008 Growing Young Expo, Sept. 20-21 (www.growingyoungexpo.com). Malcom Pirnie’s 2008 Water Resources Seminar is scheduled Sept. 24.
Over 6.2 million people have attended about 2,600 events, including over 600 conventions, at the Austin Convention Center since it opened in 1992. The Palmer Events Center, which opened in 2002, is the popular site for about 100 different events each year.
