
Summer Months are Busy at the Austin Convention Center,
with 3 Conventions in June, 6 conventions in July
Palmer Events Center hosts 2 Conventions, 5 Consumer Shows, 3 Conferences.
June, 2009, Austin, Texas – The Austin Convention Center’s busy summer calendar includes three conventions in June and another six in July. This month’s calendar also features five conferences, two sporting events, and a high school graduation. The events are expected to attract about 15,000 to the facility in June, and another 31,000 in July.
Two conventions in June are visiting the Austin Convention Center for the first time: American Society for Engineering Education’s Annual Conference & Exposition (www.asee.org), June 15-17, and F & W Publications’ 2009 HOW Design Conference (www.fwpubs.com), June 24-17. The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals returns to the facility for their annual TASSP Summer Workshop (www.tassp.org), June 10-12.
Six conventions in July include: USA Taekwondo 2009 Jr. Olympics & U.S. National Championships; Association of Texas Professional Educators’ Leader U; Texas Girls Coaches Association Annual Convention; Texas High School Coaches Association Annual Convention; Texas PTA Summer Convention; and National Instruments NIWeek 2009.
Conferences this month at the convention center include: Seton Family of Hospitals’ Austin Trauma & Critical Care Conference – 2009, June 4-5; Legal Digest Law Conference, June 9; State Bar of Texas’ Juvenile Law Course, June 19; MDE Latino Seminar, June 20; and US Fish & Wildlife Services’ 2009 Wind Power Federal Advisory Committee Meeting, June 30-July 2.
Two sporting events include the San Antonio Silver Stars’ 2009 WNBA Silver Stars Game, June 2, and a two-day invitational tournament hosted by the TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls, June 20-21. The RES Premier High School Graduation is scheduled June 5.
The Palmer Events Center also has 11 events scheduled in June, including two conventions, five consumer shows, three conferences and a private event. The two conventions are: Texas Funeral Directors Association’s 2009 Annual Convention (www.tfda.com), June 10-11; and Texas Association for Pupil Transportation’s 2009 Conference & Equipment Show (www.tapt.com), June 14-15. Consumer shows/events include: Public Dance – Los Temerarios, June 7; Bridal Extravaganza, June 21; Christian Home Education Association’s Conference & Book Fair, June 26-27; City-Wide Garage Sale, June 27-28; and 2009 Construction Expo, June 30-July 1. Conferences on the schedule are DELL’s All Finance Meeting, June 4; Austin Water Utility’s Biannual All Supervisor Meeting, June 19; and ARDENTCN, LLC’s 2009 Tech & Jobs Conference & Expo, June 24.
