
Twelve Events, including 2 Conventions, 4 Conferences, 2 Sporting Events, A Consumer Show, Gala, and a Private HBO Screening Will Bring over 47,000 to the Austin Convention Center in February
Conventions in Town: Texas Computer Educators Association returns to Austin, with its 12,000+ attendees, while newcomer to Austin, PenWell Corporation, expects to attract 4,000 to its Renewable Energy World Conference & Exhibition.
February, 2010. Austin, Texas – The shortest month of the year continues to be one of the busiest at the Austin Convention Center. Over 47,000 are expected to attend 12 events, including two conventions, four conferences, two sporting events, a consumer show, gala and a private HBO Screening.
Texas Computer Education Association (www.tcea.org) returns to the Austin Convention Center for its 30th Annual Convention & Exposition, Feb. 8-12. This year’s convention promises to be one of the most spectacular technology and education conferences in the nation. TCEA expects more than 12,000 educators and exhibitors from across the country to attend TCEA 2010, which showcases the very latest in educational technology training, nationally relevant speakers and cutting-edge products.
PennWell Corporation (www.pennwell.com) brings its 2010 Renewable Energy World Conference & Exhibition to the capital city for the first time, Feb. 22-25. Renewable Energy World Conference & Expo North America has been the event leading the way for the renewable industry. About 4,000 attendees are expected to attend the conference which features technical sessions related to technology, markets, business strategies and policy covering the wind, solar, biomass, hydro, geothermal, ocean/tidal/wave, bio-power, bio-fuels hydrogen and energy sectors.
Conferences scheduled this month include: The University of Texas at Austin – School of Law – Continuing Legal Education’s 2010 Wind Energy Institute, Feb. 2-4; TSAE, IAEE-Central Texas Chapter, MIP-THCC’s 2010 Southwest Showcase, Feb. 4; and Government Technology Conference’s 2010 GTC Southwest, Feb. 16-18.
There is a private HBO Screening of TEMPLE GRANDIN, Feb. 4, a day prior to the Temple Grandin Autism Conference on Feb. 5. The last week in February features Zachary Scott Theatre Center’s Red, Hot & Soul Gala, Feb. 27; Austin RV Expo, Feb. 25-28; Texas Bar Examination, Feb. 23-25; and two Austin Toros home basketball games, Feb. 27, 28.
Around the corner in March, conventions include Prudential Real Estate Affiliates’ Sales Convention, March 7-9; South by Southwest, March 12-22; Association of Texas Professional Educators’ Annual Convention, March 25-27; and National Guard Association of Texas’ Annual Convention, March 26-27.
Over 6.3 million people have attended 2,700+ events, including over 600 conventions, at the award-winning Austin Convention Center since it opened in 1992.
