
Austin Convention Center’s December Calendar
Showcases 10 Events
Texas Turfgrass Association Convention, Association of Educational Service Agencies Conference, 14-Day Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, and six sporting events are featured in the month’s schedule.
December, 2009, Austin, Texas – Ten events including a convention, a 14-day consumer show, two conferences and six sporting events round out the calendar this month at the Austin Convention Center.
December begins with the Austin Toros playing two home basketball games, December 1-2. All regular season home games for the Toros are televised live this year by the LoneStar Sports Network on Grande Communications, Channel 131, and on radio stations KXNX-AM 1530 and KTXX-FM 104.9. Additional home games this month are scheduled December 8, 9, 11.
Texas Turfgrass Association returns to the Austin Convention Center for its annual convention, Dec. 14-16. Conferences scheduled this month include the Association of Educational Service Agencies, Dec. 2-5, and MDE Latino Seminar, Dec. 19. In addition to the four Austin Toros basketball games, other sporting events include Cheer America Championships, Dec. 5, and Amateur Organization of Karate State Championship, Dec. 12.
The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar returns to the Austin Convention Center, Dec. 11-24. A beloved Austin cultural tradition for over three decades, the Armadillo Bazaar is renowned as a treasure trove of original, one of a kind art and gift items made by local and national artists and artisans. This year the Armadillo is presenting 40 musical performances by new bands and Austin legends alike. They are also showcasing emerging musicians in their weekday lunchtime series.
Other December events include the City of Austin Homeland Security and Emergency Management Austin Community Cyber Security Tabletop Exercise Workshop, Dec. 3, and Southern Careers Institute December Graduation, Dec. 4.
Around the corner, January is jam-packed with 17 events, including two conventions, three conferences, two consumer shows and five sporting events.
Over 6.3 million people have attended 2,700+ events, including over 600 conventions, at the award-winning Austin Convention Center since it opened in 1992.
