AUSTIN CONVENTION CENTER’S FULL APRIL SCHEDULE
INCLUDES 22 EVENTS, TWO CONVENTIONS
April calender includes two conventions, seven conferences and meetings, a trade show and consumer show, three food and beverage events and five Austin Toros games.
April, 2010. Austin, Texas – The month following South by Southwest and three other conventions, features 22 events. The two conventions in April also represent new business to the Austin Convention Center. The American College of Sports Medicine is holding its Health & Fitness Summit & Exposition (www.acsm.org), April 7-10. The Museum Store Association’s Annual Retail Conference & Expo (www.museumstoreassociation.org) is scheduled April 17-19. At the end of the month, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (www.tceq.state.ts.us) begins moving into the convention center for its annual Environmental Trade Fair & Conference, scheduled May 4-6.
The seven conferences/meetings/workshops include: MDE Latino Seminar, April 10; Austin Hill Country Ablaze Crusade, April 11; CAMPO Board Public Hearing, April 12; Nikken Pathfinders Summit, April 15-17; Austin Contractors and Engineers Association Symposium, April 21; and Austin Gaming Club’s Capital City Carnage, April 30-May 2.
The National Association for College Admission Counseling is holding its 2010 Austin National College Fair, April 13, for area high school students and their parents. Later in the month, consumers can attend the Austin Green Living & Home Products Expo, April 23-25.
Several major food and beverage events are scheduled this month at the convention center. The Girl Scouts of Central Texas are holding their annual Women of Distinction Luncheon, April 22. On April 29, Caritas of Austin has scheduled its 3rd Annual Speaker Series, featuring Leigh Anne Tuohy, whose story inspired “The Blind Side.” The evening of April 29, Heroic Media – A Majella Cares Outreach is hosting its Heroic Media Event.
The Austin Toros conclude their regular season home games, April 2 and 3. The Spurs D-League basketball team qualified for the play-offs and scheduled home games in Austin, April 10, 11 and 17. Several non-publicized private events are also scheduled at the convention center this month.
May will continue to be busy and the Austin Convention Center, with three conventions scheduled around the corner, as well as several conferences, high school proms, consumer and trade shows.
